Power of Confession

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Philippians 4:13.

“Sick’s and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me” Words may never hurt but they can sure crush our spirits. When someone says something cruel, or speaks to us in harsh tones, they can affirm negative feelings that we have about ourselves. Paul. However did not let negative defeating words of others sway him in any way. Paul always knew what God had to say about his life. That was all that was important to him. He confessed, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.

Paul’s confession was bold but it was also truthful. He knew the source of his strength was Jesus Christ. These were words that came from a meek man and not one who had a huge ego. He knew his place in God’s kingdom, and he knew he had power from the One he served.

When we use God’s Word as Paul did we see Him continuing to mold us into His image. When we see who we are and it aligns with God’s Word we get to see the benefits of statements like Paul made. No longer do we need to have a poor self image, but instead we see ourselves as God sees us. We are His children whom He longs to bless with mercy and grace.
