Worship!

“Come let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.”  Psalm 95:6-7

If you were locked in a nursing home, terminally ill, waiting for your last breath, could you worship God? If your family was destroyed and everything you owned was stolen, demolished or lost could you praise God?

Satan’s accusation is one of the oldest statements in the Bible. In Job 1:9he says, “ does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan charges God that if He were to take away Job’s wealth, family, and health, Job would curse God.

In the midst of these agonizing circumstances Job responded by worshipping God, “ Then Job,..... fell to the ground in worship and said “ May..... the name of the Lord be praised.” Job 1:20

Would Satan be able to accuse me? Do I worship God for nothing? If my ministry experience ended with thousands of people having heard the gospel, yet no one is turning to Christ, would I worship God?

Satan comes to us in our weak moments and attempts to make us focus on how unfair God is. But more than that he will trash God’s name. He will accuse God of receiving worship from me only because of the good things He sends my way. To Satan that is not fair play.

Too many Christians, unfortunately , are coaxed into a lifestyle and belief system that accepts Satan’s lies. When God blesses them with a large house, health , healing, and money, they worship God. When all is stripped away they blame God.

Do I fear and worship for nothing? Do I worship because it makes me feel good? Do I worship God because the quality the music, the friendliness of our worship group, or the results I have seen in ministry?

These verses invite us to worship the Lord with vibrancy and clarity. “ Come let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods”

In the above verses ,let us reveals a corporate emphasis on worship. Praising the Lord by oneself is not sufficient, God’s people also need to praise Him in community. Ephesians 5:19 says “ speaking to one another in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” Speaking, singing, making melody with instruments, giving thanks, and submitting are characteristics of a Spirit filled Christian.

🙏. Father it is good to worship You. I trust and pray that I will worship you in the good times as well as the bad times. Keep my heart warmed to You O Lord. I look forward to worshipping you today and serving You with all of my heart. Keep Satan far from me. It is in the powerful name of Your Son Jesus Christ that I pray.

Amen
