The Wonderful Cross

“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” Romans 5:6.

This week at prayer meeting we talked about our tendency to take the cross and the work done there for granted. The cross is a symbol of love. The eternal, unconditional , and incomprehensible love of God.

Romans 5 talks about God expressing this love by sending his Son, Jesus to die on a cross for our sins. The cross became the hinge point of history where a holy God made a way for fallen sinful people to have a relationship with Him.

Justice and mercy met at that cross. There was enough justice to punish every sin of all humanity. There was enough mercy to cover all humanity as well. God extended forgiveness to all. God wrath was poured out on sin which is justice and His mercy was extended by sending Jesus in our place.

Now all we have to do is accept this mercy by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ and repent of our sins. God wants a relationship with all of us. What is holding us back? His justice has been satisfied, His mercy is waiting. Jesus demonstrated His love on the cross and He extends that love to you. Do not delay, accept it today, Eternal life is within your grasp.
