Salvation

“Come to me all you who labour and are heaven laden, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28

Did you read the verse above? Does it give you hope? Jesus issued this call of salvation to all mankind. The passage in Romans gives us the assurance that if we respond, God will rescue us from the penalty, the punishment and the guilt of sin. He will restore us through our relationship with Christ Jesus unto Himself.

We cannot earn or acquire salvation. It is a free gift from God. If we think that we can live a morally good life and thus obtain salvation, we are deceiving ourselves. Pride sets in and we believe that we do not need God. We think we can buy our rewards of heaven and we become self righteous.

Romans tells us that, “There is none righteous, no not one.” We cannot take credit for our own salvation. We are lost souls because of the condition of our hearts. We sin every day.

However if we get on our knees before our almighty God, in humility and thank Him for His gift, the Lord Jesus Christ dying on the cross with the entire worlds sin on His back, and if we repent of our sins and believe in the resurrection we will be saved. God then makes us His true children, He writes our names in the Lambs Book of Life thus assuring our final destiny.

Praise Him for reaching down and saving us from our own sinfulness. Christ accomplished what we could not do. Accept His gift today. Don’t wait until it's too late.
