Cloud of Smoke

“But he that glory’s , let him glory in the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 10:17.

We probably all know someone who smokes. You probably hate the smoke smell that comes off of the person who smokes. We also know that smoking is not good for one’s health. It can cause cancer, and emphysema and other health problems. A bad smoke smell usually comes off the smoker like a cloud.

So why do people still smoke? When we know all the statistics, and we see people dying from smoking, then why do they continue to smoke?

You know sometimes Christians do the same thing. We know sin is wrong and not good for us and yet we cannot let go of a grudge or ill feelings. we find it hard to let go of pride. We have self pity, a defensive spirit, a critical attitude and impatience with our family. It is easy to neglect our Bible reading and we take less and less time praying. Even when we look down on somebody who smokes we become self righteous.

So when we come across someone who smokes we need to pray for this person. We also need to pray for our own transparency. We need to see past the smoke clouds in our hearts and be cleansed through the blood of Christ. James 4:17 states, “ Therefore, to him who knows to do good, and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

Pray that God will cleanse our hearts and look at others with compassion and grace.
