Walking or Sinking

“But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” Matthew 14:30

Does the life of Peter inspire you? It seems like Peter did every thing with enthusiasm! And in so doing he got into some tight places at times.

In todays passage we see the disciples in a boat going across the Sea of Galilee. They were tired after a long day of ministering to the crowds and were looking for some time to relax.. Jesus also wanted some time alone so he headed to the mountains to pray.

A storm started to brew on the water and the disciples began to row hard. In the midst of the storm Jesus came ton them walking on the water. When they fist saw Him they cried out in fear because they thought He was a ghost. Jesus called out to them, “Be of good cheer. It is I; be not afraid. Peter responded. “ Lord if it's you then bid me to come unto you on the water.” Jesus told him to come and Peter stepped out of the boat and began to walk toward Jesus. Peter got distracted on his way to Jesus and began to sink.
Does that not sound like ourselves? How often do we take our attention off Jesus and end up sinking instead of walking over to Him. As we face this virus on hand will we take our eyes of Jesus and look only at our circumstances? Please do not do that! Christ is trying to get our attention and wants us to keep our eyes on Him.

The story is not finished. As Peter cries out Jesus reaches down and pulls him up to safety. That is what Jesus wants to do for all of us as well. When we feel like we are sinking, confined to our home, many without income or job, call out to Jesus. He will pull you through the storm and keep you safe. No need to fear just repent and turn to Him.
