Turmoil or Surrender

“The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers, but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12

Suicide rates are climbing in our country of Canada. What causes people to despair? In their search for happiness and fulfilment people who do not have Christ living in their hearts try different things to find fulfilment. Sports, jobs, possessions, or other things that that please them, but leaving God out of the picture. So when they face disappointments and troubles they have nothing to turn to when they need help. They turn to tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and other things to forget their problems. These things will give them a thrill for awhile, but afterwards they leave a void and empty feeling and a longing for more.

Allow me to put a disclaimer in here. Not all suicide’s happen because of this. Sometimes people deal with severe mental illness that causes them to do something that is out of character for them. We need to support these people a lot more than we have.

In contrast when we serve God wholeheartedly, we get a deep satisfaction and peace that only Christ can give. When we face trials and temptations we have Christ as a refuge and strength. He is waiting and longing for us to help us.

Being part of a Bible believing church is important. A lot of us have Christian parents concerned for us and praying for us. We have friends with whom we can fellowship with and who encourage and help us. We have the power of God available to us.

So with all of that we need to be reaching out to those who are lost and struggling. Don’t be afraid to ask tough questions and help those in need. Share the joy and peace that you have with someone who is looking for that. Do not keep it to yourself.

Fix your eyes upon Jesus and totally surrender to Him.
