Be Still

“Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10. NIV

One of my favourite verses in the Bible. “ Be still and know that I am God......”

Not always easy to be still. In a hectic individualistic world that we live in it is hard to be still. How many times have I not tried to fix things on my own and come to a screeching halt, and then I hear that voice, “ Be still and know that I am God.” As I worked in retail business and sometimes was tempted to do some things that I knew where not right, and then “Be still”God would point me to a better way. Or the time when I began farming and the person who I worked for was trying to get rid of me because I was doing things well and he could make more money if he did not have to live up to our deal. “ Be still” God had a better plan. Then on the mission field desiring to see fruit in ministry, wanting to be a better missionary, and God said, “ Be still” Oh, how many times have I needed to stop in my tracks, refocus and repeat to myself, “ Be still and know that I am God “ when my strength fails, God is strong. When I am confused, God has a sovereign plan. When I feel that I have failed, God is ready to work all things for good. When I am distracted, God is attentive. When I forget, God remembers the details. When I can’t be the person I want to be with others, God is always more to them that I could be, anyways. He is God and there is none beside Him ( Isaiah 45:6: 46:9 ). The best way to absorb this is to be still.

When God cannot be found in the midst of the frenzy of this world, silence and stillness are needed to hear Him. This is so His children May know that He is present and has a plan for the future for all of us.

🙏Father help me to be still and to know that You are God. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life sit me down in silence and reflect on who You are. You have a plan for the future as well, as the present. Help me to follow that plan as your child. Thank You for directing my paths so clearly in my life. Thank You for Your Son Jesus, who shed His blood for me so that I can have eternal life. Thank You Jesus. I love You and it’s in Your name that I pray.

Amen
